Liberal arts college grads

tsquare

Is there any liberal arts college graduates out there
who can tell us about the transition from lac to
architecture school (if any, what did you do in between
what did you study as an undergraduate, etc),
and the whole process of preparing for the admissions
(who did you ask for recommendations, what did you
do for your portfolio, etc)?

Well, I am junior at an lac in PA, majoring in econ and film&media.
So far I have had drawing and sculpture classes, and did cdisco.
I will be applying for m.arch programs next year.
(getting a job is not an option for me.
I'm a foreign citizen and have not finished my military duty
back home yet. (Yeah, no one back home knows what the heck
liberal arts colleges are.)
Being a student is the only excuse for postponing it.)

I would appreciate any comments!

i'm still waiting to hear back form some schools, so i don't know how well i did at this whole application process, but i'll tell you what i did. i had a recommendation from the dean of students (i'd done a lot of extra-curricular work with him), a journalism professor/advisor, and from my thesis advisor/art/architecture history prof. i have taken a few architecture studios, so i used materials from thaose classes in my portfolio. i also had some photographs(ones that i'd taken and printed myself), and some pictures from industrial design projects. in retrospect, in looking at other portfolios, i should have included more freehand sketches.

i have a degree in econ from a lac, and my portfolio contained no images; only my writing for philosophy, theology, economic theory.
