Bill H.R. 683, the "Trademark Dilution Revision Act of 2005." could make it illegal for artist, designers, and other people to use famous trademarks. This can affect American's wanting to criticize or parody policies and wrong-doings by companies.
Im not sure how this applies after reading the above articles but the city of chicago has been suing photographers who use images of millenium park in calanders etc. Im not sure how a public taxpayer funded construct can be trademarked but then again Im just an architect.
wow, now we even have corporate public spaces. In School I had a friend that was fond of saying that WAL-MART is the last true public space in America. Although it was a tongue in cheek comment I think that it is not far from where we are going.
generally, when structures are photographed from the outside, that's fine. it is considered the public realm. the interior of buildings are a different can of worms.
