The office I'm at is looking for software to manage images, drawings, renderings, etc for the purposes of including that stuff in proposals, presentations, award submissions, project sheets/boards, etc, etc.
It's one of those things where you need a very rigorous, fast-access system to manage all your presentation materials. Anyone out there have any advice?
We're currently exploring some options, from the low-tech, to the high-tech: Apple Aperture, Apple iPhoto, Extensis Portfolio, well organized folder structure, Adobe Bridge/Version Cue (with Creative Suite).
And lastly, our criteria/concerns:
- ability for multiple people to access the files concurrently
- intelligible file names (for InDesign/Illustrator so the links list makes sense)
- manner in which color settings / resolution are managed (one original image with ability to extract to various sizes versus managing multiple versions of the same image)
- extra capabilities to also manage non-image files (i.e. presentation drawings in VectorWorks or Illustrator, 3D models/movies, etc)
- managing entire library of received images versus managing a subset of consistently used images
Any thoughts you might have are much appreciated. Thanks, neighbours.
Aperture looks very pretty. It's like iPhoto Pro.
It's very tricksy with previewing, so you can fly through folders full of massive pictures.
No way of handling non-image data though.
you might want to look at the proposal automation features of Deltek Vision ... but, of course, that assumes you're working in a Windows environment (your note suggests that you may work on apple)
