at the risk of losing the good energy of this forum...could we be somewhat respectful to sincere posts?

i'm writing this in an open thread to divorce the conversation from any particular thread

if you are so concise and rigid as to not be able to answer a question, why bother ripping the questioner a new one because of your inflexibility? it doesn't seem to be worth your time...

if you actually do care to answer, perhaps a different tack would be to rephrase the question more clearly and then proceed to give an opinion in a somewhat respectable manner. you clearly have an opinion on the matter. and there's still room for you to be humorous without being disdainful and superior.

arguing the syntax of the original post does not make you look smarter. we all know what the questioner is usually getting at. make your point pertinent to that. if the questioner is really making no sense at all, call him on it. the rest of us will respect you for it.

i'm up for more respect within this forum for the topics that were posed sincerely. those topics that are clearly not sincerely stated would probably be open season.

please don't get me wrong. i do appreciate a lot of the sarcasm and humor on this site

with that, i'll leave you to it. open season! thanks!

Toughen up. Like anyone went through architecture school without a slap or two, or ten.
The trick is to have "butter shoulders."

look if someone asks crazy questions they should get crazy answers, good questions should get intelligent answers.
simple as that.
for instance, if someone was to ask "should i get my portfolio bound at kinkos" i'm gonna come back with some lame ass thread of non-sense refering to wool as the best binding material. No self respecting architecture student would bind their portfolio at Kinkos. Kinkos is the work of satan himself........get my point? no? do i have a point? huh

well, think about it. Kinko's isn't bad if you don't know any better.

I took the whole wool-binding discussion as irreverent fun, and not at all in a mean-spirited way. The first version of archinect was so enjoyable because of how irreverent and silly it could be. Of course, it could be mean and petty, too. I'm not upset to see that change at all, but I'm glad that some spirit of nonsense has survived into v.2.

well good that is how i wanted it to be and A Gift really made me laugh, i just bout fell out of my chair on a few of them. When i first looked at archinect i thought it was really funny with a few really good discussions about architecture. now it has a lot of really good discussions bout architecture and a few of them are funny. i hope we don't lose that just cause we have the same name everytime we post. i never am mean spirted although it is difficult to provide a sarcastic tone of voice in a post.

I've found it convenient to use html tags:

[sarcasm] "I love your work!" [/sarcasm]
