my favorite is a brazilian liquer called cachaza (I think), and you mix it with fresh sqeezed limes and sugar and ice. i've only had it once when my friend came back from brazil, but i think you can get it around the states.
Steawberry, Pollen,
For a good Caiparinha, the secret's a good wood, tall cup w/ a wood masher (I forget what the right name is) - can't do it right any other way.
Cachaca (pre-nounced Ka-sha-ssa) is indeed like a rum - Brazilians
make it (& much of their fuel) from sugar cane. You can get it in most decent liquor stores, here, The main one you find here is labelled '51'. Costs around $15-$20 /bottle (about $1/baottle in Brasil). My wife's 80yr old grandma makes her own w/ all kinds of fruit - Hey it keeps her healthy, so drink up!
good call tyvek... though sort of a sad statement. :)
not sure if this is what you were hinting at vado, but i'm curious if anyone has had absinthe? i've partaken and been fairly unimpressed. i know that they no longer make it at the cut-off-your-ear standard, which is disappointing, but even so, it really wasn't that great. though i am a sucker for ceremony (sugar/spoon/fire)...
Makers Mark on the rocks for anti-social late night design sessions. Kettle-One martini extra dirty/extra olives for social drinking situations. (Is it wrong to get martinis to have olives?)
favorite drink?

jasoner: the caffeine in the coke adds something very special to the rum
depends on the mood:
normally: straight whiskey, preferably Maker's Mark
mixed drink: whiskey sour
shots: Wisnioska (polish cherry liquor)
just relaxing: PBR
at a nice pub: Guiness
Cava (Spanish version of Champagn)
Vodka-Guru (Guru = +/- Red Bull with less shit in it)
Black Velvet ( Guiness + Cider)
Strawbeary, I'm pretty sure that's a Caiparinha.
Rum, Limes, Sugar, Ice all mashed up.
Cachaza looks to be a Brazilian rum derivative.

and yes, margaritas... yum.
Is anybody as ambivalent about Johnny Walker Blue, as I am?
for some reason none of the bars in my town have ginger ale so i rarely get my favorite whiskey and ginger ale.
so the usual is well scotch with soda, and a lime. every now and again i like to buy something nice and sip it though.
Vodka Tonic
or if someone else is paying...
Margarita on the rocks with Cocaine instead of salt.
