Eyes of the world into scarlet begonias into fire on the mountain into lost sailor into st. of circumstance into st. stephen into dark star back into st.stephen capped off with a lofty earthquake jam....aaaahhhh the omnipotent Grateful Dead.
gimme dat nut...i used to love that song. eazy e.
i could probably still sing along....
definitely a song that should be in every kareoke bar in america.
let's expand: rediscovering of an old cd, lost for years in the collection rainbow reflections that one day, for no reason, you popped in and remembered how much you loved that cd and how much you love it still...
where everysong is fanastic and there's no need to skip to the ones you like the most....
Blood Sugar Sex Magic, RHCP. Transports me back to the most formative album and time in my muscial career. It is a masterpiece.
Badmotorfinger, Soundgarden. So strange, yet so good. Kim Thayil was voted Guitarist of the Year buy Guitar World [or some equivalent]. I listened to the album and was transfixed, and it forced me expand my knowledge. It is not an album, it is a treatise.
I Should Coco - Supergrass. The most fun album. Has alot of memories associated with it - particularly a roadtrip to Cape Reinga.
The Bends, Radiohead. Another masterpiece, enough said.
Nevermind, Nirvana. I can remember what time, place and what I was doing when I first heard "Smells Like teen Spirit" - the most influential rock song of the 1990's.
And also, I have found myself humming along to Big Guns by Skid Row recently for some reason...
Nothing's shocking, Janes Addiction, just found it recently after not listening to it for about 5 years or so.
And of course, Nigga Please by Ol Dirty Bastard. I can listen to this great masterpiece over and over and over. But this doesn't count as I carry it with me at all times. My favorite song is "Rollin wit' You", a fine song indeed.
Don't know that song off the top of my head, I'll look it up. I respect cop killer though. It's mostly just the wu that does it for me. There are some other hip hop artists I'm listening to now though:
do you remember when odb was performing ghetto superstar with mya nd pras and he was almost INCINERATED by the fireworks at the front of the stage? is pras hadn't reached in quick and pulled him back......
for some reason I've been getting the urge to listen to "She's in Parties" by Bauhaus... I guess because recently I've rediscovered the only two songs Peter Murphy did alone, IMO.
Jeezus this song takes me back to studio and late nights and lots of smoking with the Austrian students. Wonderful.
I totally second WonderK's Best Newbie Gold Star to meggilicious!! You're on the way to being a Best of 2006 (and then vado will put you in a song...perhaps to be recorded by Peter Murphy!)
peter murphy was my hero for a while, and 'cuts you up' wasn't necessarily among his strongest (imo). how 'bout:
the light pours out of me
all night long
indigo eyes
my last two weeks
chrystal wrists
should the world fail to fall apart (an all-time favorite!)
you're so close
mirror to my woman's mind
he's had some misses, but i always run out for the new one.
haha. and oooh. I'll have to check those out, Steven.
I always feel like a musical sponge - I enjoy all kinds and most of my collection comes from others. I definitely have my own favorites, and seem to stick to a couple of genres more than others (i.e. industrial)... it only sucks when those people are out of your life and you're either embittered to the music or it's just painful in general.
and glad I could help, liberty bell. if only I knew what it was like to be like you guys, slaving away in studio all night long... *ah daydreams*
