I started to think with all of the empty commercial space in Chicago wouldn't it be cool to maybe get a store front donated for a week or a month and thru a yet to be determined process (maybe as simple as just inviting my other out-of work friends) turning the space into a gallery of portfolio presentations. Send out invitations to firms with the encouragement they can attend for free if they are willing to invite at least one shower to an interview, or something along those lines.
It's a very rough idea, but maybe it is the kind of thing that can generate some buzz as well as serve the community in several ways...beautify a vacant space for a period of time, educate the community at large, provide a place for out-of work architects to congregate?
