AAA ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNS (cursing the day some bastard comes along with AAAA...)
ARCHIMMANENCE (how do you answer the phone with a straight face?)
ARCHITECTUS (makes me think of festivus - similar problem answering the phone.)
I can't find them now but I swear I came across "Architectural Heroes" once...
what about the boom of eating related names in britain?
milk
fat
lemon
muf
tomato (not architects but influential)
smoothe (not architects either but work with architects)
project orange (half edible)
I love alphabet soup. Next month our office (MPA) is competing against WRT, HLA, MIG, and FTB for a TOD. And there are all the radio station firms - KTGY, RTKL, NBBJ, HNTB, DMJM, EDAW...
Though my friend works for them, I have always disliked "Architecture Incorportated" or "ArchInc" for short. Something just seems wrong with that name!
Urban Future Organization (probably borrowed from the japanese acidjazz band United Future Organization) is a horribly pretentious name for an office. Actually I dislike every name with "urban" - it just doesn't sound as good as "metropolitan".
one I find really strange...W.O.R.K
.."so where do you work?"
" WORK"
.."yes, that was my question, where do you work??"
"at WORK!!"
.."oh fuggedabbudit!!"
"Jeff and Ken's Really Good Architecture".
That's not what it says on their business cards (those say, "Kenneth David Lee Architects"), but when I interviewed there, the sign out from said "Jeff and Ken's Really Good Architecture". I laughed it off and figured they just had a sense of humor about themselves, but I guess the rest of my classmates didn't take it that way.
Seeing tomato listed above, you should look at advertising firm names:
mother
72andsunny
pyro
core
modernista
Architecture Design Guild could be the worst I've ever seen (especially when seeing their work).
There was a company in Chicago that was a specwriting company and their name was Architext. I thought it was great and very fitting. They then changed their name to Architech and instantly became quite lame.
form64 - after reading all the critique of "creative" firm names I was thinking that initials was the only safe way to go now I'll have to do some sort of symbol. (the firm formally known as...)
hey MickMack are you from NJ, because I interviewed with SOME Architects...can't really say anything good - i have even gone into my interview at length here....
beta...i work in nyc...and heard about SOME. i have NO idea what sort of work they do...partially because i couldn't get past the stupidity of the name in order to go and research the firm. someone said McMansions...is that true?
Naming your firm after a thing having nothing to do with architecture.
use all lower case letters.
USE ALL UPPERCASE LETTERS (especially if it's an acronym)
use a + or a / somewhere in the name.
incorporate "archi" somewhere in it.
having listed these your not left with many options besides using your own name which I like. Would you hire a law firm or doctor with names like
"NoTG/UiLTy" or "sure+jerry"?
corny firm names
post your pick...

not a firm but an industrial designer
furn - art - ture designs inc.
architectonica, morphosis (sorry, but it's true)
Arquitectonica is bad too.
I interned at L'arc. Very french.
architectonica sounds like something from an adam sandler song.
OWPP, i realize it's the founders initials but always think of that Naughty by Nature song
nothing could be worse than . . . aardvarchitecture LLP
http://www.aardvarchi.com/aardUser/page.php
may be the worst name ever. It even has an umlaut.
Architaco?????
architexas
Architects and Heroes is a hair salon. My old roommate used to work there while I was working for a silly little office doign custom homes.
She was a lot more heroic that I, I think.
hey joebloggs, what about archinect?
or did you forget that one
T & A Architects
no, it doesn't stand for that ... it's Taylor and Associates

DMJM is actually a subsidiary of DMJMH+N. Never work for a firm with more than two names on the door, or anyone who is dead.
Architorquemada- they do the twisty buildings everyone's so gaga about.
F.A.T. enough said
Arquitectonica - gotta second that silly name
Archi Civitas - chalk full of truth and virtue
O.C.E.A.N. - its too bad they got rid of the periods, because for a while the name was BOTH a word and an acronym!
LOT-EK - wow, it works on so many different levels...
u guys really need to stop by my atelier somtime.
Urban Future Organization (probably borrowed from the japanese acidjazz band United Future Organization) is a horribly pretentious name for an office. Actually I dislike every name with "urban" - it just doesn't sound as good as "metropolitan".
A little of the subject but I always thoguht these names were funny:
Hadid (zaha)= metal in arabic
Botta (mario)= hit in italian, as in physical meaning of force hitting something
Fuksas (massimiliano)= no meaning I know of, but it just sounds insulting/menacing!
ohhh, and I'm not a big fan of 'architect name'+'same architect name' (i.e. smith+smith). What a waste of ink!
barbaric:
Reminds me of Derrida making the point about "Peter Eisenmann", roughly translated as "the iron-man of stone".
I call them LTL, and I love them by the way (David taught me)!
Architecture by Design
architectyourhome
(it's some kind of franchise they have been trying to launch in mthe uk for the last few years)
Archangels: Give me strength.
Fat Parrot Architecture: still makes me laugh.
3rd Uncle...in toronto, no?
one i find silly is "S.O.M.E"
who do you work for?
oh, SOME architects...
hmmm.....
Axis of Architecture. . .
Atelier Studio
Any name that contains the word 'Lab'
Intersplice
and
Facade-omy

i'm surprised nobody has nominated the infamous "jtarchitect"
"Jeff and Ken's Really Good Architecture".

I'm sorry, but I like morphosis.
"Brad Pitt Architecture" Ha! I'm gonna quit and become an underwater fireman.
maybe not corny but VERY uncreative and lame in my book.
anything with individual partner names in the firms name.
"DMJM" Daniel, Mann, Johnson & Mendenhall.
You know they discussed the order of each initial forever as well. And one ended up in a lawsuit against the rest anyway. LOL
can you say ARCHITECTS FREAKIN' HUGE EGO??? No wonder our profession is perceived as a bunch of elitist snobs.
Can you imagine hearing "High, I'm Steve Jobs of Steve Jobs' Computer Firm" ?
form64 - after reading all the critique of "creative" firm names I was thinking that initials was the only safe way to go now I'll have to do some sort of symbol. (the firm formally known as...)
Central Parchitects
hey MickMack are you from NJ, because I interviewed with SOME Architects...can't really say anything good - i have even gone into my interview at length here....
Wow. "Central Parchitects." You win.
beta...i work in nyc...and heard about SOME. i have NO idea what sort of work they do...partially because i couldn't get past the stupidity of the name in order to go and research the firm. someone said McMansions...is that true?
A couple guys I went to school with named their company "Symbiosis" I guess they thought it was cool in 1989.
Others I don't mind, kind of zen but speaks of place rather than being too corporate.

General rule for corny names:
Acronyms that have more then one meaning.

USE ALL UPPERCASE LETTERS (especially if it's an acronym)
use a + or a / somewhere in the name.
incorporate "archi" somewhere in it.
having listed these your not left with many options besides using your own name which I like. Would you hire a law firm or doctor with names like
