So Im a third year architecture student and I have been looking for an internship for the past 6 months and have yet to find one. Im no FLW, but Im also no Joe Smith. Im not really shure why I am having so much trouble with finding a job.
Does anyone have any really good sources on the internship market (besides archinect)?
Check the local AIA office or website, they usually have a job list you can get a copy of for a buck. Bug some of your proffesors, see if they know anyone hiring. Helps if you have someone to make the intro and give ya few pops.
Here is what I did, do a google search, or whatever on the internet to find as many firms as you can in your area. Submit your resume over the internet to these firms via email if they are looking for interns, even if they aren't it can't hurt to send a resume you might get lucky, maybe include a cover letter also. From that I sent out about 15-25 resumes, got one actual interview, and landed the job at that firm with the first interview thanks to my portfolio. I am also a 3rd year student and that is how I did it, just make sure your portfolio is in order before you start submitting resumes. Of course I live in Atlanta, the job market may be a little better here, but that would be my process for a job search. Of course any personal contacts you can mooch off of would be the first resource.
