El Lizzitsky Where Are You...

jujujuice

ok, don't know where to post this...I am an architect with a recently acquired beautiful storefront in the East Village interested in exhibiting abstract-theoretical models. The models should be around 8" wide x 18" long (small space). The space will open in the middle of April...

The work should be well crafted and conceptually strong and should illustrate ideas and to this end the eye and the brain are more important than the hand. I am looking for students (thesis-studio work), actual projects or just general abstract models of architectural ideas....essentialy I am looking for superior, dynamic, great work.

Please send jpegs representative of your work to hvncb@yahoo.com and please if you're not interested but know of any El Lizzitskys out there, send me their contact info!

ok, i'll be the paranoid one...

could you somehow show that those jpegs will not go over to fatten your portfolio? good proof that you're not a student planning on applying for grad school next year that just found out they don't have 'cool' abstract models?

more context on how/why the models will be exhibited would be nice. will this be an exhibition open to the public? is this a/your gallery? or do you just want to enhance your office space?

sorry to be blunt but i think if you want images you should give out more details.

...oh, sorry for the lack of information...if you are in New York City you can come and visit my office (union square 212-807-8970) or the actual storefront which is located on 7th street and Avenue B in the east village; we're still working on it but it should be open within the month...

let see:

--how/the models will be exhibited would be nice.--

this depends on what the actual models are...but generally I am thinking of foamcore shelves and generally to suit the individual piece(s)...I thought that each person would do a series of whatever subject they like...the series would be from 3 upward...I also want to do a table (24x36) or so...I used to teach at syracuse and I did an exhibit for the students at a storefront and this is how we exhibited a lot of the work...on a long table with drafting lights...

--will this be an exhibition open to the public?--

Yes, open to the public...the business itself is not for profit however I plan on doubling the price of the model to pay for the space...so whatever you want to charge, I'll double that... I am just looking to pay for the expenses of the place which are about $1200 a month...we have full insurance so not to worry about loosing models, etc..the idea for the place is that there is no venue that I know that actually sells architectural models..I think it would be a great outlet for students to do work in...as far as exhibit...I am open but could be group show, individual, by type, one person...etc....as to gallery hours...at the start I will be there on Saturdays and Sundays..can't do more than that for now because I have my own office...at any rate here is my website which I should have posted before....
www.ov-architects.com and as I say, if you're in new york, drop by!

this is all new so if anyone has ideas..please forward them!!!!

thank you..
