You'll be a 20 minute drive from Ronchamp which is definitely worth a trip.

Also, there's a Nouvel building in Belfort itself.

Why is it that no one in Belfort seems to have heard of Ronchamp? I drove around that damn town for 6 hours before finding the little road that leads to Ronchamp.

Forget the architecture. EAT EAT EAT! Don't miss the cuisine and white wines of the Alsace.

ronchamp and belfort are in the franche-comte. however, if you want to see some interesting cities in alsace, colmar has it's historic town centre. strasbourg has some great parks and probably one of hadid's better projects. neuf breisach was designed and built by french engineer vauban, and that town is great. in fact there is a great biking path from colmar to muellheim or freiburg germany, which is another place i would recommend. the daily market on the marktplatz is astounding.

if you want to see le corbusier's work, i recommend going to la tourrette...you can stay there for the night. it's worth doing.

it's in a village called l'abresle (i think that is how you spell it) not too far from lyon. you can take a 45 minute train ride from lyon.
