I don't think one scene in that movie was shot in Orange County. I think the same goes for "the OC". Both shows are better representatives of the Santa Monica or Palos Verdes crowd. Laguna Beach on the other hand is much more (and nauseously) true to life.
On a related point, the fraternity house at the end of a movie is truly an Alpha Rho Chi(prof. co-ed fraternity for architecture and its related arts) house that they rent out for movies and commercials as fundraisers. I never noticed it until hearing about it during my apprenticeship, and then catching it in the movie.
