I put this application together in under a week, because of a personal epiphany I had on 12/25/22. Anything is possible! I've been looking at next steps for years now, this was the program of action that "clicked".
I'd be grateful for any impressions, I'll take advice with a grain of salt. SCI-Arc offered 8k a year, no other financial info yet. I'm eligible for in-state at CUNY, and also probably at the Pennsylvania schools (current address is New York since 2019, permanent address has stayed PA). The gulf in tuition we're talking about here between say SCI-Arc and CUNY is quite substantial!
For what it's worth, someone I trust pretty well recommended I apply to SCI-Arc, and I did get in. I've since learned about the 2022 scandal, and also this is astounding https://archinect.com/forum/ga...
I've taken to characterizing it as a "starchitect squidgame" in my head, which is probably at least a little unfair. Are they just renowned for giving students access to the "Futurists" and Musk types of the world? I'm leaving graphic design to hopefully find a way to *stop* freelancing, and to be freer from the attention economy, aka I don't aspire to be a "thought leader" in the field of architecture! That said, I do like what I've gleaned about some aspects of the studio culture, it reminds me of the Ulm School a bit, and their positioning within the industry is still enviable, I think. It could be good to be part of the cohort that helps to redefine the school, but I don't want to be part of a war against the admins! If I'm careful with cost of living I might be able to graduate with 150k in debt.
I'm visiting later this month. But, in short, is SCI-Arc skunked?

In response to both this and your above post. SCI-Arc offered me 7.5k each semester, which seems immediately great, but that is not enough to cover even a single year of tuition (and the program is three-years). So yea, it's pretty pathetic. But, what can we really expect--it's a private school which has only recently been uplifted (in the 1970s). They probably do not receive a lot of federal/state support I'm guessing... But they also do pay themselves quite a hefty amount, as you noticed.
Would recommend to anyone else looking at SCI-Arc in particular, or thinking about what it means to study architecture, and how that relates to picking a school.
I am thinking if I want to spent 160k to have a U of Michigan graduate degree. Or I can just finish my graduate program in the same school which I got my Bs arch(it is an accelerated program, just 1 year, cuz I have taken lots of graduate student course already). It is a state U, no ranking, but also accredited program.
160k cash, I can use it to buy an condo in somewhere and it will give me at least 2k gross income every month. Or if 160k loan for the condo, I will got an condo after 20 years.
I am kind of emo at this time, 160k loan can make your life different. I look back my portfolio, I feel it is good, perfect, and with my hardwork and pation.
If you have 160k in your bank account, the interest rate on student loans could compare pretty favorably to how well that amount of money might perform if invested, i.e. you may have an incentive to borrow big and pay slowly.
I'm not sure what your loan terms will look like, my situation is very different (independent student, no assets, currently living below poverty line lmao).

This isn't financial advice, but I'd recommend you talk to a professional financial advisor. I don't think buying the condo and paying for school are really at odds in your situation.

I have a few paragraphs that conclude my thesis, past experiences, and ambition for graduate studies, and I use them for almost all essays unless there are specific prompts for me to answer.
In general, I tailored each writing to the specific school I applied to. I finished the 95% of my portfolio one month prior to the deadlines so I had sufficient time to focus on writing essays. I ended up quite liking the process as writing essays really helped articulate my thinking on architecture and where I want to land after graduate.
I also think it’s very important that your portfolio and essays speak to each other.

Loved Yale’s open house. The faculty felt genuine and friendly. Very resourceful program and I admire the dean a lot. Great vibes overall.
MIT’s was fascinating. Their class size is so small, so I am not holding my breath and didn’t want to get attached.
RISD’s was amazing too. Very informative open house to get a sense of their vibe.
Berkeley’s open house was a bit disappointing. Felt a bit unorganized. I was a bit surprised. Still a great program I’m sure.

Typically, financial incentives come with the acceptance letters. Financial aid is another thing altogether and, if in Ontario for example, could be through OSAP for low interest loans. Canadian universities are not like the ones in the USA where they offer tens of thousands in scholarships. Canadian tuition is dirt cheap (often under 10k usd per year) so you don't get the big cash lures.
At this point it will most definately be next week, either monday or tuesday. Its just wierd cause the last few years they have been announcing on the 1st.

Tips
I don't know since I don't have an architecture background, but NYIT faculty did give me this gem. If you are not from an architecture background applying to grad school, (1) they DO NOT expect you to know much if anything about architecture and (2) highlight your undergrad or outside projects that were interesting to you or you worked really hard on and your creative or research process.
I feel like MIT is doing something different for their admission process this year. Seems like nobody has been notified about the decisions. Usually they release informal acceptances on late Feb and waitlist on early to mid Mar.

In general, it just seems like a typical M.A. academia-degree; seems most likely that it will only be useful for further PhD applications (I don't mean this in the wrong way, I myself am in a master's degree program now in the humanities). I'm assuming the allure that will come with a Harvard degree will be enticing for possible employers if you choose not to do the PhD (which I assume would also further be in a non-technical degree), but it seem at best to get you a career in nothing better than writing/office work.
Depending what you want out of it. I got in MDes narrative too, and it's one of the few programs I'm super keen for since I'm not happy with professional practice.

as a mcgill grad I can confirm they released their m.arch offers on Feb 10 in 2021, while other candidates would be on a ranked waitlist(without notice). those waitlisted might get in if someone declines their offer. they would send rejections to those waitlisted when all spots are filled - obviously not all peeps get on the waitlist, hence some would receive their rejections earlier. that being said this year seems to be slower than usual. I would expect something in March, if not you might be waitlisted..while their m.arch usaully accepts 28, their waitlist is 3 times as big. hope this helps

I don’t believe UPenn has a rolling admissions process. It’s more than likely the same as all the other Ivy League schools — all admitted students are accepted at once; then waitlists/rejections come out on the official deadline.

Personal Essay/Statement
One of the stronger parts of my application. I spoke about how I chose to study computer science to be at the forefront of innovation and use technology to build tools for social change. After working in the tech industry and seeing how tech giants don't always have the public's best interest in mind, I want to learn how to merge design and technology to shape a more equitable and accessible built environment.

Tips
If you come from a non-creative major or background I highly recommend doing multiple summer studios or portfolio building programs if you can. I'm glad I went with LAIAD since it was a longer program (9 months) rather than doing just a 2 month summer studio at Columbia/UCLA/Cornell/etc which gave me much more content for my portfolio. I could scrap some projects and hone in on others instead of only having one or two projects that I'd have to stretch out to fill the pages.
Personal statement - just write. Set a timer and get words down on the page. Practice sharing your story when meeting new people to refine your 'why' for graduate school.
Believe in yourself! I made a huge pivot from working as a software engineer in the tech industry and many people in my life tried to steer me away from pursuing architecture. I tried my best to focus on my passions and limit any thoughts of doubt or insecurities. If you have a dream, it's for a reason!
would like some input from this helpful thread: for m arch 1, would you go to Cornell or Berkeley or Columbia, assuming all things equal (such as funding)?
I would assume that because they're all of relatively equal prestige you would have to investigate more if their particular program/location/general vibe appeals more to you. I know that Berkeley in particular is involved quite heavily with ecological concerns, while I think that Columbia has a good faculty of historians and theorists, as well as people interested in visualization.
did anyone receive an email from upenn that notification letters with admission decisions will be posted on march 13th? Just dunno whether or not it is a red flag...
I did this morning. But I also received an early unofficial admittance letter earlier last week so I assume the March 13th will have advanced standing + $$ information. If you haven't heard anything I wouldn't count yourself out just yet, anythi
ng could happen (especially with waitlists). Penn doesn't have the yield rate of GSD or other top programs due to location and cost

Wondering how UPenn compares to Cornell and Columbia for the Master of Architecture Programs? Can not find too much info on how their program is versus other ivies? What is the acceptance rate like for UPenn?
Is UPenn not Ivy? I think it is. But that said, I am personally not a fan of their program. They are too hyped up about new shiny tools of modern technology and have a very top-down look at real issues that requires less technology and more thinking. I am also into exploring modern tools as MIT does, but with an intention. I think UPenn is lacking the intention. I would rather choose Cornell or Columbia. Cornel is in the mid of nowhere in Upstate New York, so student life might be not as exciting as you would go to Columbia.

From what I know I heard that UPenn's acceptance rate for M.Arch is 40% or so, probably lower. As pogo has said, they seem to lean heavily towards visualization, rendering, and digital design. Their program does seem respected.

Will agree with my fellas up top. Heard from their Alumni that the program is not that good. But I might also be bitter that I don't think I'm going to get in. Cornell is in the middle of nowhere but that also means you can afford living their a lot easier comparing to Columbia in NYC
Agree, it will be more affordable to live in Upstate. And you can take day trips to NYC and appreciate it even more. NYC is quite expensive to live but it is a very exciting city to spend school years. I love NYC, so I am biased. :))

I don't disagree one bit, but I don't want in a shoe box for 3 years of my 20ths. trade-offs in life i guess ;)
It seems to be on the rise, I know rankings don't mean much but the faculty, resources, and travel studios they have would suggest its still world class (exchange program at London's AA seems interesting). Maybe not worth 65k/year, but still.
Did anyone hear a word from MIT MArch program? I am starting to think that they already sent the acceptances. It was the same last year- no one received anything until mid-March and then all of a sudden rejections came.
I think usually the ones that are active on forums are the ones that put the most effort and therefore are nervous about results. First cheers to this beautiful community here! :)) But also how come they were active in previous years but not last year and this year? I am really curious about what is going on.
MIT Graduate admission website
- "We send all notifications of admission and waitlist status by email, and many students will also receive telephone calls, beginning in early to Mid-March and running until April 1. All admitted applicants will have until April 15 to let us know if they accept our offer. If we do not receive notification that you accept our offer by April 15, the offer is rescinded. Because we may not hear from some admitted applicants until April 15, those admitted from waitlist status may not receive notification of admission before April 15."
That is new! Their previous notes on website did not mention any of those. Thank you for sharing. Lets wait anxiously more!

Didn't assist
anxiety, a hint of depression, self-doubt
pray... a lot
thank you for sharing. it's a very strong portfolio with very consistent quality. I can relate a lot to the 'Results' section...!
Thank you, congrats on Yale btw! I’m curious to see your work aswell.
In at GSD!!!
CONGRATZ!
congrats? did you get in for AP?
I meant congrats!! lol
congratulations!!! do you mind sharing more about your essays/portfolios for reference? gsd is my dream school
Congratulations on GSD! Any reply from MIT?

Thanks, not yet, will update
Congrats! Can't see the portfolio.. might be great. Which program is your first choice?
the link to your portfolio isn't working anymore :(
Anyone heard from GSD? They sent out decisions on March.1st last year.
Still waiting, if it's today they will announce it in the afternoon. If not my bet is they will announce on the 6th (Monday) as they did back in 2021.

5 total. 2 from studio professors, 1 from an art history professor I’m close with, 1 from a previous employer, 1 from Berkeley grad/ structures prof
Talked about my experience with moving often as a kid, how it informed the way I think of architecture, privilege, mobility, identity…
18 pages, mostly studio projects, one focusing on adaptive reuse & net-zero, one housing thesis design that went well with my essays, various mixed media projects.
UC Berkeley (M.Arch)

Still waiting nervously for both …
Months before applications open, start crafting a narrative. Edit your projects, post-rationalise them a bit if needed, clean them up… Write your essays early and then rewrite them. Good luck to all :)

CUNY Spitzer M.Arch 1
Tyler School of Art and Architecture M.Arch 1
Yale M.Arch 1
Penn State M.Arch 1
U Penn M.Arch 1
SCI-Arc M.Arch 1
Went to a Yale open house years ago, their graphic design department impressed me, and I liked the vibe.
As of today:
CUNY: yes
Tyler: yes
SCI-Arc: yes
Yale: no
U Penn and Penn State: still waiting (Penn posts results 3/13)
One more thing, I really liked the big post by user "Smalbert" in this thread https://archinect.com/forum/th...
Would recommend to anyone else looking at SCI-Arc in particular, or thinking about what it means to study architecture, and how that relates to picking a school.
M.Arch II
U of Oregon , Accept
U of Michigan, Accept
Illinoins Institute of Technology, Accept
U of Washingshington, Waitting
UIUC,Waiting
GPA, 3.84
I should have applied more good schools instead of those, A little bit regret about this. If I have anotherchance I will apply UCB, also VT U Penn.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am thinking if I want to spent 160k to have a U of Michigan graduate degree.
I was talking about if I have a real estate loan or have a student loan.
Has anyone received financial aid from Yale yet?
Nope. Still waiting.
Undergraduate Degree/ School/ Year graduated
Bachelor (4 years architectural degree) / Canadian university / 2021
GPA - GRE - TOEFL
3.4 - didn’t take - only IELTS score for MIT (8.0)
Letter of recommendations
3 studio profs / mentors plus work supervisors’ letters when more than 3 letters are allowed
most of my recommenders didn’t go to the schools I applied to (meaning the content of the letter speaks louder than the referee’s titles IMO)
Personal Essay/Statement
I have a few paragraphs that conclude my thesis, past experiences, and ambition for graduate studies, and I use them for almost all essays unless there are specific prompts for me to answer.
In general, I tailored each writing to the specific school I applied to. I finished the 95% of my portfolio one month prior to the deadlines so I had sufficient time to focus on writing essays. I ended up quite liking the process as writing essays really helped articulate my thinking on architecture and where I want to land after graduate.
I also think it’s very important that your portfolio and essays speak to each other.
Portfolio
Varies depend on the requirement.
In general - 3 studio projects + 3 research/personal projects that echo my thesis
Schools
M. Arch I - Yale, GSD, MIT, Berkeley, Princeton, RISD, GSAPP (dual-degree), U of Toronto, McGill
Open house impressions
Loved Yale’s open house. The faculty felt genuine and friendly. Very resourceful program and I admire the dean a lot. Great vibes overall.
MIT’s was fascinating. Their class size is so small, so I am not holding my breath and didn’t want to get attached.
RISD’s was amazing too. Very informative open house to get a sense of their vibe.
Berkeley’s open house was a bit disappointing. Felt a bit unorganized. I was a bit surprised. Still a great program I’m sure.
Didn’t attend others’ open house.

looks like gsd isnt releasing decisions today…?
I guess not
Doesn't look like it. Been waiting for 2 months what's another day
:/
just heard back from UVA! Accepted with $$ and it’s my top choice :)
anyone know if the financial aid letters for Canadian university come at the same time as of offer letter. I applied to Toronto Met U, Manitoba U, Waterloo, Mcgill, Carleton U.
Got offers from both Toronto Met U and Manitoba U. For Manitoba U despite receiving an email from the head of the dept they said another email would be sent but I'm yet to receive an email and the portal is yet to update. I'm really looking forward for financial aid.
Anyone know if financial aid for Canadian universities come with offer letter
Toronto Met U financial aid comes at the same time as offer letters.
Typically, financial incentives come with the acceptance letters. Financial aid is another thing altogether and, if in Ontario for example, could be through OSAP for low interest loans. Canadian universities are not like the ones in the USA where they offer tens of thousands in scholarships. Canadian tuition is dirt cheap (often under 10k usd per year) so you don't get the big cash lures.
d
anyone know when U Washington will release decisions? Anxiously waiting to hear back from any schools :)
I received an acceptance email yesterday evening! Hopefully you hear back today
I didn’t receive an email but randomly checked my portal and saw an acceptance!
What this acceptance looks like?
received an email yesterday afternoon
I wasn't expecting them till a week or two from now, so it would be cool if it happened in the next couple days.
Surprisingly waitlisted! Huh. Not super worried, just confused.
Anyone know when Parsons decisions are coming out?
Any word from RISD or Pratt? Know when those decisions might get sent out?
just received email from Pratt, you will hear from them soon
In at Pratt with a wee scholarship. Wish I was rich!
did you receive a portal update?
I still have not heard anything
Did not receive a portal update, just an email
Nothing from RISD
I got an offer from RISD M.Arch I with $$ March 6 afternoon
Anyone heard from GSD?
been anxiously waiting since the 1st :/ seems like the best bet is next Monday
no not yet... usually dont they come out early march? ugh
At this point it will most definately be next week, either monday or tuesday. Its just wierd cause the last few years they have been announcing on the 1st.
On my friend's portal, there's a new line in the checklist showing awating - "Documents Sents to Harvard International Office". Do you guys have that?
my friend's portal also has that and there's a red cross next to it? anyone knows what's going on
Mine doesn't have that... How about yourself?
I dont have it.. but im applying from the US and shes applying from the UK, so maybe that's the reason?
Hi, may I ask if your friend applied for march?
think she applied for MLA
ty!
I saw the red cross on the "documents sent to harvard international office" - no idea what that is about. Im refreshing the page literally every couple of hours now haha
Does anyone know what the status page looks like if you got accepted / rejected? The page still shows the narrative before the deadline...
RESULTS ARE OUT !!! Check your emails folks! Best of luck!!
Still waiting. You got in?
I haven't got the emails yet. This is so terrifying lol

Schools
Pratt M.Arch I, Parsons M.Arch I, NYIT M.Arch I
Open house impressions
Didn't go to any, but I figure Pratt is boujie so it'll be nice, saw video tour from design students at Parsons, and haven't seen NYIT. | I did go to their open houses and all of the professors that came seem really cool, somewhat laid-back, but about their shit.
Results
Pratt: just got my acceptance, I'm f- screaming | Parsons: waiting (in)patiently | NYIT: asked for an interview yesterday
Tips
I don't know since I don't have an architecture background, but NYIT faculty did give me this gem. If you are not from an architecture background applying to grad school, (1) they DO NOT expect you to know much if anything about architecture and (2) highlight your undergrad or outside projects that were interesting to you or you worked really hard on and your creative or research process.
omg congrats on pratt!! have not heard back on them..:(
ty, I hope it's coming soon. :)
Hi, anyone heard back from Cornell?
Yes they sent me an email with an acceptance letter on March 1
Congratulations! May I ask if you applied to MArch?
Yes I applied for M.Arch 1
They only offered 20k/year and I have to maintain at least a 3.3 so I don’t think it’ll be a realistic
option lmao
congrats! some of us haven't heard back :/ wish we still have a chance
I haven’t heard anything either.
They sent me an acceptance letter for MSAAD. But I still hope I can get letters from other schools.
Has anyone heard back from Berkeley for financial aid yet?
nope :(
Has anyone heard from USC?
Haven’t heard anything either.
One on grad cafe said they checked the portal. Anyone else received email/checked portal update?
Received email about an hour ago!
Has anyone else received an early notification of admittance from UPenn?
I have
That’s great. Have you received admittance to other programs, or just this one so far?
I have too, so far its only Penn and Berkeley
That’s great. I hope to see you at Penn this fall. Also, do you mind connecting outside of Archinect?
I feel like MIT is doing something different for their admission process this year. Seems like nobody has been notified about the decisions. Usually they release informal acceptances on late Feb and waitlist on early to mid Mar.
Not to theorize too much, but it might be because this year they moved onto a new application system. I believe it's called Slate.
Hi everyone,
I got accepted to Berkeley two-year M.Arch
Still waiting for any response from MIT and GSAPP, Has anyone heard back from these two?
When did you hear back from Berkeley?
March 4
GSD decisions are out!
that's a good way to confirm that my heart is still working
You got in? If so CONGRATS!!
NOOOO please dont jinx it my heart is just pounding was I am waiting for my inevitable dum
same here brother/sister
In at Harvard!
Has anybody gotten a rejection email?
IN AT HARVARD TOO! but i have no money to pay :") so probably need to say bye to the dream
Nothing on email or on my portal... Don't understand why uni's do this... guess we should just assume a rejection?
same for me. all I've heard of is acceptances and one waitlist thus far :/
I'm not sure if they have released it for all programmes. I do know that MLA I and M.Des Narratives are out!
Did anyone international get $ at Harvard?
Does anyone know if M. Arch I results are out?
@oranjejuice yes, i got $15k as an intl for mla (3yr). i hear $15k is the max they give intl kids.
Does anyone know if M Arch II results are out? I still havent received any email..
did anyone in the march1 program get funding for gsd?
@rasha lama congratulations!! i'm not really sure, i wasn't offered aid - going to see if i can find external scholarships
I can now announce that I am a proud Harvard Reject!
@oranjejuice thank you!! i'm also looking at external scholarships. ik uPenn's "Outside Scholarships" webpage is v informative. also look into your nation's scholarship opportunities (ie. as a Canadian, i'm exploring some fed & provincial funds)
Harvard also has a great "Outside Scholarships" page
https://www.gsd.harvard.edu/resources/outside-scholarships/ They break it down into women studies related, religion, region, so you can really find a lot of potential things
@rasha lama, @PAULRAND00 thank you both, looking into them!!
@bam7 My letter did not list anything but loans and work study, however in the portal there was action needed listed for FA. I need to send 2022 financial info and 23/24 Fafsa before they can determine aid. Did anyone get their aid package right away?
@NYRGRL I got my aid package right away + a grant. But it only covers around half the costs. Will have to consider other options if I can't get more.
In at GSD M.Des! No financial grant (international), letter says that scholarship decisions will be announced by April.
In at GSD. Apply for two programs(MDes, March ii) and in at both. On my first choice portal they sent the offer letter, second choice portal they said I can do two programs together if I am interested.
may i see your portfolio for mdes?
congrats, I got into MDes too
Anyone in at GSD with $$$ for the MAUD Program?
i know a friend with $$
Do you mind sharing details?
Around 15000-20000k I think?
International?
Does anyone know when UCLA and GSAPP decisions come out?
@zohayahid124 Currently waiting for UCLA update as well. Hopefully in the next week.
UCLA is the last school I'm waiting for. Hopefully it'll come in the next few days!
Hello!
I am in for GSD Mdes Narratives degree, out for M.Arch I. I have heard that this degree is not very useful. Does anyone have any opinions on that or pros/cons they've heard?
B.Arch - 2020

3 letters: 2 from professors I’ve worked very closely with (as a TA, as an RA and as a guest critic after graduation). Both are GSD and Columbia Alum. 1 from mentor and design principal at firm who hired me from design reviews, also GSD alum.
Wrote about my upbringing, and how growing up in the country i’m from (former British colony) influenced my need to be a designer, and to craft identity that was missing through design. Tied to my thesis
30 pages. 7 projects (one page for firm work.) One a commissioned kiosk post-graduation, thesis, two full building projects, one urban design competition (1st place), one shoe design. Showed a range of scalar and graphic ability with underlying narrative tying the portfolio together.
IN at GSD M.Arch II with $$$$
Waiting for MIT SMarch AD. Will update
Are you an international student?
Hi! congradulations! In as well, with no funds. If you could explain more about the $? Did you receive a award grant? Thanks!
Not international, so eligible for aid, but grew up almost entirely in another country
. Received deans merit award + need based aid.
Congrats!!! Do you apply for the merit award or do they decide on their own? Also how much is the dean's merit award (if you don't mind telling)? I still have 2 years to apply for masters so I'd love some financial clarity regarding funds and such. Thanks!!!
Did anyone receive a scholarship from RISD? Their financial letter lists the loans that I can take... but nothing about scholarship. Do they give scholarship at all?
I didn't see the second page of financial info at first, but that is where my scholarship was listed.
Hi guys!
I received a portal update from University of Southern California saying I was accepted into the 2-Year M Arch program. Has anyone received a letter from the program itself? I haven't received an email / financial aid updates from the department yet, just a portal update.
hey! no update for me either :( congrats tho!!
Congrats! Does it say “accepted” under the application status under the check status tab? Mine still only says completed but I applied for 3 year program
Yes, I got an email with scholarship info.
Just got the email!
ah no email for me yet :( wonder if it is on a rolling basis?
Congrats! Still haven't heard anything.
Just got accepted into USC today, no portal update, but an email of admittance.
has anyone else still not heard back from Pratt?
Yep i haven't while people ik who applied for m.arch have
I heard back from Pratt this past Friday
anyone know when Mcgill, Carleton, and Waterloo gonna release their offers for M.Arch
They use metric time up there so release dates don't match up with the US schools.
Your sense of humor is unique
Sorry, eh.
I know McGill releases their offers really late compared to other schools. Like around April/May?
Dang what do international applicants do.
as a mcgill grad I can confirm they released their m.arch offers on Feb 10 in 2021, while other candidates would be on a ranked waitlist(without notice). those waitlisted might get in if someone declines their offer. they would send rejections to those waitlisted when all spots are filled - obviously not all peeps get on the waitlist, hence some would receive their rejections earlier. that being said this year seems to be slower than usual. I would expect something in March, if not you might be waitlisted..while their m.arch usaully accepts 28, their waitlist is 3 times as big. hope this helps
Cool thanks , I emailed the grad supervisor, she said the results be out next week. Fingers crossed
is penn releasing all their acceptance as early decisions? because a hand full of people got theirs and im panicking now.
I'm wondering this is as well, and am thinking it's unfortunately the case. I assume a rejection on the 13th.
I don’t believe UPenn has a rolling admissions process. It’s more than likely the same as all the other Ivy League schools — all admitted students are accepted at once; then waitlists/rejections come out on the official deadline.
It’s difficult to assume if all decisions were released on the same day, but in my experience so far, the people that I’ve spoken to (around 5) that has gotten accepted, were accepted the same day as me through early notification.
tldr. if you haven't gotten your early admissions, you are out. lovely, thanks
Anyone still waiting on Pratt?
Me. Still haven't heard. Waiting for washU too.aa
Still have not heard from pratt, on gradcafe only one person has heard back so I think they are sending out decisions in waves
still waiting?
B.A. Computer Science with Urban Studies minor / East Coast Liberal Arts College / 2019
3.4 (3.1 major, 3.7 minor) GPA - N/A - N/A
3 total for majority of schools
- cs thesis professor whom I have a good relationship with, has seen my academic growth
- two studio teachers from my architecture spring/summer architecture portfolio building program (LAIAD)
for the schools that allowed 4 LOR, another teacher from a summer studio course (architecture is free)

IN w/ $$ - RISD (half tuition fellowship)
IN w/ $ - UT Austin
IN waiting to hear back about financial aid - Georgia Tech, Penn
OUT - GSD
waiting to hear back - USC, Columbia, MIT, UBC, U of T
There are two “Penn” universities, I assume you got accepted into UPenn?
Haven't heard anything from G. Tech or USC either, portals still say submitted
@ZahaHadont yes it's for UPenn!
also, updating that I got into USC with $$!
Hii, your link to portfolio does not work
Hey, how much money did Penn offer you?
UCLA decisions are out! I got in! Email to check the portal at 1 am CST.
It seems like you're the only person that got anything?
Nothing over here yet
But I’ll keep refreshing every 30 seconds just in case. You know….so I can keep all of you guys updated. You’re welcome.
Congrats! Not the only one - I also got an email to check the portal around the same time
Has anyone received scholarship info from Georgia Tech?
would like some input from this helpful thread: for m arch 1, would you go to Cornell or Berkeley or Columbia, assuming all things equal (such as funding)?
I would assume that because they're all of relatively equal prestige you would have to investigate more if their particular program/location/general vibe appeals more to you. I know that Berkeley in particular is involved quite heavily with ecological concerns, while I think that Columbia has a good faculty of historians and theorists, as well as people interested in visualization.
ty for the input! the respective focus you provided is very helpful
did anyone receive an email from upenn that notification letters with admission decisions will be posted on march 13th? Just dunno whether or not it is a red flag...
I did this morning. But I also received an early unofficial admittance letter earlier last week so I assume the March 13th will have advanced standing + $$ information. If you haven't heard anything I wouldn't count yourself out just yet, anythi ng could happen (especially with waitlists). Penn doesn't have the yield rate of GSD or other top programs due to location and cost
I haven't received anything from them yet and am assuming that I am going to get flat-out rejected by them com e the 13th.
Thanks ham1! I didn't know what to espect after I received that email..just freaking out thesedays with any notifications :(
Wondering how UPenn compares to Cornell and Columbia for the Master of Architecture Programs?
Same here, also because of how little they accept. Those accepted might not be active on forums so we will never know.
I think usually the ones that are active on forums are the ones that put the most effort and therefore are nervous about results. First cheers to this beautiful community here! :)) But also how come they were active in previous years but not last year and this year? I am really curious about what is going on.
MIT Graduate admission website - "We send all notifications of admission and waitlist status by email, and many students will also receive telephone calls, beginning in early to Mid-March and running until April 1.
I think they haven't released the decision yet? There were at least one reported acceptance for MArch and several for SMArchS on gradcafe last year while this year it's zero...
I am not sure about it. Because I remember last year it was exact same situation and except that one mysterious acceptance in grad cafe no one reported acceptance in this forum for last year. BTW, I think I saw SMArchS acceptance this year in this forum. But I really hope that they have not released the decisions yet.
Fyi I applied to SMArchS and had a short interview with a faculty mid Feb (probably due to substandard IELTS speaking score)… but didn’t hear anything yet afterwards.
ha, I am international as well, but I've been in the states since middle school. I just flat out wrote, "sorry, no one else was asking for my language score, and MIT isn't special"
