Architecture as a hobby

lawrencematthews

Hi, I’m interested in studying architecture as a hobby. I’m particularly interested in modern architecture. I was hoping somebody would point me in the right direction. If anyone could recommend a good book or documentary to get me started, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Try looking up BBC's Dreamspaces series from a decade or so ago, explains architecture quite nicely in my opinion.

there are a few universities that offer classes for free. Best of luck. Architecture is really a hobby job... shouldn’t make a career out of it

Become a client. that is one way.  Are you interested in studying design or building things like Jimmy Carter does for Habitat For Humanity?

Also, check out Architects on Architecture by Paul Heyer. Came out in mid-sixties, but you might find it in a library or Amazon. Mid-century modern.
