Advice for General Contractor

Vercetti

I own a general contracting firm and have been open for 1.5 years. I want to expand the company and am working on a list of architects and engineers to reach out to. I am looking for opinions on what architects look for in general contracting company and how we can better differentiate ourselves.

Uhhh....

Define your work area

Define your project type.

Find the Architects in your area that work on your project type.

For me, selecting a contractor is based more on personality than anything else (assuming they can handle the size of the project). It's really nothing special...

- Can they communicate clearly and honestly?

- Can they (at least attempt) to solve problems creatively?

- When a problem comes up, what is their first response (hopefully it's: what can I do to help fix this)?

- Do they actually want to work on this project, or is it just another check for them?

Best way to differentiate yourself is to get clients to like you, trust you, and not feel beat-up during the process of finishing their projects.

... and have a nice website. Too many contractors have old/outdated websites.
