Continuing Education for Canadian Architects

FireGuy

Hi All,

For practicing architects in Canada, what are the CEU requirements annually to maintain your status as a registered architect?  What organizations govern CEU crediting?

In the states, I know of the AIA and IDCEC -  do those entities operate in Canada as well?

Thanks for the help :)

70hours per 2-year block.

Hours are split between structured(25hr) and unstructured (45hr). Only the first group requires authentication certificates. It is up to each provincial association to determine what is acceptable for structured learning credits. AIA is usally good, but more often than not, there is also a canadian equivalent (OAA in Ontario, OAQ in Quebec, etc) that certifies the american CEU.

Are you looking at apply for a Canadian license through reciprocity?

I think continuing education is compulsory for all fields whether that ethics insurance, IT, health or architect because according to the change of time every technique has evolved so that if people become aware of those changes, that must be beneficial for their career and learning.
