Don't do the same initials thing either. I'm the first of three with the same initials. And my parents let me name my youngest sister, so we have the same middle name.
Julia was also my grandmother's name and my favorite. It's really hard to nail it down until you see them---even if they are all squishy at first. My cousin has since had a daughter and named her Julia though, so if I ever lose my mind and have another kid AND it happens to be a girl I'll have to come up with something else. It's much easier to pick one for someone other than yourself!
I can't believe none of us has suggested Zaha?!? Or Winka? Or Farshid?
My work tonight is to select an exterior stain color - how about Olympia? I'm also working on a landscape plan - we're planting some Liriope, that's a nice name. Pronounced like Calliope, who was a great character in Matt Ruff's first book (I forget the title of the book). Which leads me to other literature ladies, like my all-time favorite female book character, DL, for Darryl Louise Chastain. And my second favorite, Ellen Cherry. And my third favorite, Olympia. Wait a minute, that's where I started!!
vado your aunt's names remind me of a group of ladies playing bingo at the Elks Lodge in my hometown. There is a Gladys at the pool here in Portland who is 94 and swims 5 days a week.
This is weird...found out today we are having a girl. We came up with a girl's name early and could'nt ever really decide on a boy's name. Didn't matter anyway. Enter Zofie Aleksandra Poczatek (April '07)
I am with WonderK on the rhythm. I read something about symmetrical syllabic patterns - and why you should do it. That was a long time ago (no I am not drunk again). Eitherway, there's rhythm in those names.
1 1 1 (ex. James Earl Jones, John Paul Jones)
1 2 1
1 3 1
2 1 2
I guess that leaves you with single syllable first names, but that could be cool.
Anne Marie Ward
Mae Ward
Rae Ward
Or maybe not. Forget it. I like the 2-1 pattern too.
I am just looking forward to finding out what you choose.

Isabora (like Isabella, but better)
You could call her Moi, which means little sister in Chinese. However I do prefer the name Arabella Ward.
Isabora? Or Isadora?
You can check the popularity of baby names here. My apolgies if this is a duplicate link.
It's funny how we underestimate the power of the Zeitgeist. A few years ago my sister decided to be unique and name my niece Isabella.
Our girl name was Fiona. We got a boy, as you know, so Steven I can give you Fiona. But I still like Cady best.
Cleo Emerson Ward
My drafting table is covered in crap and all I can do is think of girl names.
Just realized you already used emerson....hmmm maybe Cleo Quinn Ward?
I always liked the name Acuff Rose after hearing the Tweedy song, but do you want your kid named after an American music publisher?

Maggie Ghyllenall (sp?), who I totally, totally love, has a newish baby girl named Ramona.
Problem solved, Steven!
our best friends' dog is named ramona.
You come back to Archinect after a long time away and you see your name on the first page of the Forum?! Yikes!
I started this thread 15 years ago. Yes, that daughter is 15. My second daughter, for which this thread was revived in late '06, is now 13.
Spoiler: They both have names!
Is one of them called Awk?
No Awk. When they're being hailed down the sidewalk, though, they will answer to 'Ad' and 'Aud'.
Fair enough, and congrats by the way!
If you're back on this thread, Steven... does it mean you have some news for us?
Teenagers now. I'm not sure congrats is the right answer these days...
Of course it is the right answer :) before you know it they'll be leaving the nest.
Stephen you were a trend setter! We had never heard of another "adeline" when we picked that 4 years ago, now they are everywhere! Lots of different spelling variations tho.
I miss our 4yo Adeline! What a great age. Congrats!
