Chinese-American architects MAD are for sure one of the emerging practice in current architecture panorama, they have recently been appointed the design of the museum George Lucas will build in Chicago. The most famous project by MAD is a (truly outstanding, IMHO) museum built in a remote part of Mongolia, the Ordos museum. This article presents the museum but also tries to understand why a so cutting-edge architecture has been built at the end of the world. Funny how the pictures have been carefully selected to eliminate any suggestion of the rectilinear interior walls.
