I have a masters in Architecture and 2 years of professional experience, and I'm currently searching for a job in NYC, where I currently live. In the past I have been successful finding jobs through professors and Archinect.
What are the best resources you have used to find employment?
Check the local AIA and CSI chapter websites. They usually have job boards. I have never sought employment in such a large city, but I've been able to email my resume with a cover letter and portfolio to firms in my home town. I'm sure that firms in NYC are flooded with that kind of stuff though.
Also, Linkedin has a pretty good search engine for jobs. I assume you'll use Architect as your keyword, do you'll need to filter out terms like CS+ and java so you don't end up with options like infrastructure architect... unless you are trying to get into IT.
