spazio milesi, Milan, Italy 2023

Spazio Milesi is an interior located on Via Casati in Milan, in a neighborhood that is beginning to gain visibility on a creative and artistic level and in which architect Gianluca Milesi thought of fitting in. Gianluca Milesi is a Milanese architect with experience and training articulated between Milan and New York, whose work has always been directed toward contemporary architecture and design, with attention to detail and in some ways to the experimental side of the subject. Designed by gianlucamilesi&architect studio, the place is conceived as an exhibition and work space, and is an environment conceived with a minimalist design, interpreting the existing in a respectful way, enhancing it with few punctual interventions. Architecturally, as the space is on two floors, one of which is basement, a portion of transparent glass floor was created to allow a double-height perception of the space and give brightness to the basement, giving an impression of spectacularity to the premises. Overall, the project aims to combine spatiality, lightness, simplicity and taste without ostentation. Some elements were kept as they were considered compatible with the general idea of architecture that was to be proposed, such as the existing industrial-type staircase. As perhaps industrial and functional is the lighting and air conditioning for other treated with attention to detail. In the end the result is a minimalist space perhaps "industrial," "raw" but in many ways elegant, where attention to detail is by no means a secondary factor. The materials used are few and left as natural as possible. The walls are white, the floors are treated with light-colored microcement, raw iron with exposed welds was used for the few furnishings present, glass and polycarbonate. The two storefronts on the street have been preserved, brought to "rough" to enhance the characteristics of the light iron window frames. The harmony of the interior elements gives a feeling of order and awe in general and in detail, which can be perceived as one goes further and further into the space. A revolving wall at the basement level divides the space making it differently usable by allowing display alternatives.
