Xoom Headquarters

At Xoom, being in the business of transferring currency internationally is all about connecting communities.  As a service and technology leader, the company provides secure, affordable online solutions for customers to send money to family and friends.  When the opportunity arose to relocate its San Francisco headquarters to 425 Market Street, Xoom took a proactive step to evaluate how it could better utilize its physical environment.  The company identified its goals as improving work processes, enhancing product development, and supporting recruitment efforts.  The new space would need to reflect a corporate culture of transparency, diversity, and respect - a theme that is clearly represented in the company’s revamped brand campaign.  Huntsman developed a planning concept centered on the basic principle of connecting users and fostering interaction among them. Upon entering the reception, visitors are greeted by a lounge that peers into client meeting spaces and the main boardroom.  On the opposite side lies the employee lounge and café which also serves as an all-hands meeting room.  Connecting these two zones is the Xoom gallery.  In this open collaboration lounge, touchdown workstations, casual seating, and individual phone stalls blur the lines between hospitality and office as well as personal and communal.  In lieu of corner offices, open meeting rooms further enhance the community culture while democratizing views of the city.  These open-door rooms provide each neighborhood go-to spaces for instructional training, project review, and scrum sessions. Supporting a combination of collaborative and focused work, a menu of meeting spaces provides employees with a wide variety of work settings at any given time.  Tying them together is a clear representation of Xoom’s brand, evident in the community being fostered through linked activity throughout the space.
