Enter the Dragon - a Bruce Lee exhibit

Our design is based on a question: how to make a single space with a multitude of options at the same time? A space which moves not only in three dimensions, but also changes in time? How to create dynamic viewing, for the passer-by and art pieces?

The concept is suggested by the fluidity and simplicity of martial arts body movements, which translate movement to an art form. We thought about a structure composed by simple elements that could carry out three elementary movements: pivot, spin and block. Combined, these flexible elements created a new series of moves. The idea is simple, and the spatial configurations are endless.

The exhibition space is slender and small, in comparison to the building. Thus, we decided not to compete with the surroundings, but to respect the existing building materials - with a twist. Extending the visibility and perception of the space, the “house of mirrors” was born. The reflective surfaces extend the space, providing glimpses of the art as well as the viewer, and overlays. The flexibility of the panelling allows one to create multiple intimate spaces for a private experience. A series of reflected reflections, allows one to see themselves in relation to the exhibit.
