Metropolitan United Studio is the Architect of Record for this 4,039 SF multiple units alteration/renovation, located in Midtown Manhattan on Fifth Avenue and East 51st Street. The building itself contains 225 condominium apartments and more than 250,000 SF of office and retail space adjacent to the Saint Patrick's Cathedral. Olympic Tower was developed by the famous Aristotle Onassis and the building was design by Skidmore, Owings and Merill. Chris Chen of Think*It Architecture served as the design architect in collaboration with MUS.
These three units have one of the most spectacular views of Midtown Manhattan, Central Park and the Empire State Building. Surrounded by skyscrapers of the modern International Style, elegance and simplicity were the main design themes throughout the three condominium units. The initial layouts of the three residences were not altered from their original designs except for the various storage spaces. The six bathrooms were completely renovated to reflect simple modern finishes and fixtures with accent-lighting. The three kitchens were replaced with new laminated cabinetries, countertops, fixtures and modern appliances. The old tiled living spaces and carpeted bedrooms were replaced with wood flooring throughout to suggest a more contemporary sensibility. New HVAC units also replaced the old units.
The three units were completed in March 2010.
