Ambika House is a fine example of 20th century architecture in an area dominated by 18th and 19th century buildings. BuckleyGrayYeoman has taken on the mantle of adding to this rich mix by constructing a 21st century home on top of the building. For a private client and his family, this project has evolved around a diversity of influences ranging from the Case Study Houses of California to the furniture of Established & Sons. This project epitomises the practice’s goal of Complex Simplicity – incorporating advanced technology such as the roof top pool, retractable roof and ‘living green wall’ within pure simple spaces, defined by elegant materials.
