A second location for New York City’s Court 16: Tennis Remixed for Kids! A 12,000sf interior renovation located in Long Island City, Queens, is sited directly south of the Queensboro Bridge. The manufacturing warehouse was converted into a carefully organized tennis club, including offices, reception, food, beverage and bathroom spaces. Clerestory windows wrap the space and allow for views of both the Queensboro Bridge and iconic Silvercup Studio sign. The club features the USA’s first LED glass tennis surface, allowing the space to be reconfigured with an ipad to USTA sanctioned courts according to its players needs via different LED configurations. The courts are surrounded by bar of L-shaped program, whose wings include a pro shop, offices and restrooms spectator seating and a food and beverage bar. The skins of the program volumes are thickened to allow for a layer of sub uses, storage and display zones. Consistent with the Court16 brand, the club features architectural colors, patterns, materials and textures to stimulate the youthful members.
