Snell Engineering Consultants served as Engineer of Record for Ringling College’s new student housing project for its Campus located in Sarasota, FL. The project comes as the campus continues to expand its classroom and resource facilities.  This project is 80,000 square feet of new construction and provides 200 beds of student housing.

Construction for this project is masonry walls and steel column/beams supporting pre-cast hollowcore plank. Because of the poor soil conditions that exist on-site deep foundations were utilized for the 3-story building. Due to the owners needs of a completed project in time for the fall semester of 2018 and a 14-month build time, the project moved from schematic to construction documents in under 3 months.

The total cost of the project will be approximately $24 M, including the new bridge that will cross the nearby bayou and additional boardwalks around the building which Snell Engineering Consultants designed.
