This new library replaces the former 12,000 sq ft library in the same location, and maintains a strong connection to the community with an increased technology section, reading gardens, and enhanced meeting space for neighborhood gathering. The design focuses on natural lighting with floor-to-ceiling windows, and wood, metal and brick used on the exterior and interior for a warm, comfortable atmosphere. High open ceilings express exposed structural steel beams supporting exposed Epicore floor and roof decks, and a central switchback exposed structural steel stair, with a single support column extending from a large geometric concrete plinth. The remaining structure consists of concrete columns and beams, steel columns, steel beams, steel bar joists, and masonry.
