LIGHT TABLE

This exercise explored the unification of a moment through simultaneous experiences. Similar to the three photographs used as generators for the light table project, what motivates the observer or user to continue engagement with the object is curiosity. The photographs for example, because they were three shots of the same moment, the instinctive reaction is to discover and recognize the similarities between the photographs – consequently activating and retaining the observer’s attention. In the case of the light table curiosity is driven by its ambiguous functional purpose, the ability to shift and remove parts, and lastly the identity changing effect when the object is in use. All design decisions mentioned before work to preserve the object’s identity from anything but familiar, constantly modifying and adapting according to the user’s needs.
