Residence Building of Ms. Sushila Shakya at Mahargunj, Kathmandu is designed as per the principles of “GREEN BUILDING DESIGN”. The building is designed in purpose to have Office space in ground floor of Innovative Createers Pvt Ltd and residence above for our Managing Director Mr. Ujjwal Man Shakya. The building is 3 and ½ storeys with Plinth area 2557 Sq. ft and total floor area is 8095 Sq.ft. About 75% of the building space will be heated by solar energy. Solar spaces are designed to be used as passive solar heating system for two south facing bed rooms at second floor, where as bigger solarium of 200 Sq.ft is designed to supply hot air to living and dining room at first floor and cloth draying room at second floor. This heating system is operated by a blower, which is also operated by solar energy. Solar Air Panels (SAPs) are used for heating office spaces at ground floor. Cooling system of same office during summer is achieved by using cool air generated at duct adjacent to 40 feet long concrete wall of the ‘Lap-pool’. Solar energy is also used for water heating upto 800 liters. Solar photo-voltaic panel system is designed to produce 3kW of electricity. There is provision of wind turbine of 1.2 kW. Double glazed window and cavity wall is used to achieve energy efficiency. Rain water charging system is also incorporated in the project.
