Worked with the Gates Foundation to develop a program of spaces in a 35,000-sf office building in New York City for the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI), a not-for-profit partnership established to accelerate the development of an AIDS vaccine. Designs and finishes were used to give the offices an international feeling. In 2001, when IAVI needed to expand their offices, similar designs were provided for offices on the floor below the existing space, as well as a connecting staircase. The stair design required a hole to be cut in the concrete cast-in-place floor, requiring coordination with and response to a great deal of base building structural and city building code concerns.
