Designed a 7,000-sf house in Saucon Valley, PA using unconventional building materials, because the client was highly concerned about the health effects of volatile chemicals found in standard materials. Worked with the client to develop a list of acceptable materials to include in the home. The house was built using steel framing; concrete decking and autoclave aerated concrete (ACC) block walls and partitions. Treated lumber and plywood panels were not permanently installed in the house; all insulations are organic; and low volatile organic compound (VOC) paints, sealants, and adhesives were used throughout. The exterior of the home has a limestone veneer and a copper roof. (6/03 - 12/05)
