PRODUCED CONSUMPTION | ARCTIC NEGOTIATIONS
Production Consumed examines how architecture could be incorporated into infrastructures and create new living experience in arctic environment. The machine is constructed by the production loop of fresh water (water desalination) and food (vegetation and fish), and the consumption part in terms of human activities (housing, research lab, public exhibition space, auditoriums).
Production - Embracing the water desalination technology, PC provides an insightful experience of how the water produced, transferred and consumed in the living circle. In collaboration with aquaculture and hydroponics, aquaponics generates ultra-local and ultra-fresh produce.
Consumption – In the notion of benefit tourism and research mutually, research lab units are able to respond local knowledge demands and to illustrate the origin of Svarbard for the tourists. Regular activities are held in the public gathering space according to the academic calendar. Housing (one person type + two person type) and daily facilities are mixed together, for the locals, tourists and scientists.
