The interior and exterior lighting for this residence developed from an aerial and spatial analyses of the architecture. The interior lighting was designed and executed to provide spatial clarity and ease of use. Pre-determined focal points and gathering areas tied together by choosing an appropriate hierarchy and luminous intensity. Partnering with the careful craftsmanship, AWA addressed the landscape lighting, as well as the illumination of key exterior features such as the pool and outdoor patio areas at this green luxury residence in the Hamptons. Custom lighting solutions took the form of hand-painted lenses to create a specific effect upon approaching the house. Low exterior lighting levels partnered with the adaptive reuse of the existing vegetation contributed to the many green decisions made during the design and construction of this residence. Additionally, solar panel arrays, geothermal wells, an extensive green roof and graywater irrigation were important features in this green residence.
