The airport in Kemerovo is named after Alexei Leonov, the first cosmonaut to make a spacewalk. And here, without leaving the Earth, you will feel similar sensations.
The key element of the facade is an outrigger canopy covering the main entrance area. It is made of folded metal, which resembles the material of a spaceship and effectively contrasts with the glass shell of the building. The triangular opening in the visor looks like the letter L, which together with the rest of the letters forms the word “Leonov”.
The central place in the registration area is occupied by a large panel with a painting by Alexei Arkhipovich. He captured his spacewalk on it. The composition is complemented by ring-shaped lamps resembling floating cosmic bodies.
The theme of space continues throughout the terminal space. 7 thousand glowing “lights” under the ceiling flicker smoothly like a starry sky. Among them hovers a replica of the Voskhod-2 ship, on which Leonov made his exit.
The dark range of finishing materials supports the effect of endless interstellar space surrounding passengers.
