Skolkovo is a testing ground for development of new solutions, urban and architectural.
The medical cluster, as an integral part of Skolkovo, tests modern approaches and formats in the field of medicine. It combines medical treatment, education and scientific activity. Our task was to put all this functions in a new quality architecture.
The pilot building is the entire cluster in miniature, a kind of showroom of medical technologies, a prototype hospital of the 21st century. Let's remember the typology of old hospitals - these are monumental and rather bleak structures. Our goal was to embody another image - easy, friendly, focused on prevention and healthy lifestyle.
In addition, we have tried to observe the architectural principles of the Skolkovo itself - the innovative look, environmental friendliness and comfort of the environment. The outer shell of the building is a light stained-glass system with energy-efficient glass, on top of which is a sun-protective "veil" of lamellas. The different density of the lamellas resembles the beating of the human pulse, as an image of a cardiogram. The ecological principle we realized in the space of the atrium, where the natural elements - lawns, trees, sunlight penetrate. Due to this, the third principle is realized - creating a comfortable environment for visitors. All the elements of the building are thought out so that it is comfortable to work, to be treated, to communicate and to learn in them.
