The building is comprised of two distinct components: community service space and the Reston police station. The design concept highlights the relationship between the two program elements. The light, extensively glazed public component is buttressed and supported by the heavier mass of the police department. Sweeping roof forms unify the composition, shelter the entrance, and help control heat gain.
