The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers developed this replacement hospital in response to the federal government’s Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) program to replace and consolidate the existing medical facilities in the area. The project is a new 744,867-square foot hospital development on a greenfield site, centering on an 80-bed inpatient tower with a diagnostic and treatment block, twin outpatient clinics, and a dramatic entry concourse. The development also includes a central utility plant, two parking structures for visitors and staff, and ancillary buildings. 

Clinical programs include surgery; medical-surgical beds; intensive care unit; labor, delivery, and recovery/post-partum; inpatient psychiatric beds; pediatric program; internal medicine, cardiology, and pulmonary care; orthopedics and podiatry; preventative medicine; physical therapy; family medicine clinic; allergy and immunization; ENT and audiology; ophthalmology and optometry; as well as clinical laboratories. 

As part of a design/build team, AECOM’s designers and planners applied extensive efforts toward maintaining the site’s natural, wooded character, a major priority for the owner. The $333 million hospital was completed in 2014 and is LEED Gold Registered.
