La Herradura began as an invited Competition in 2009. Amin Taha Architects were selected to lead the Design Team which included Woods Bagot and Arquivir for a sustainable residential community and 7 star luxury hotel overlooking the marina and the Mediterranean Coast. The steep hillside site was partially cut away from a stalled development years earlier and the challenge was to locate such a large development but conceal it within the landscape with which it sits and break with the traditional norms of heavy urbanization that destroy the visual aesthetic of such a dramatic coastal landscape.
My role on the competition and design team was to generate early sketches and imagery of the concept and eventually work with a large team as Project Architect, making site visits and coordinating documents for Proyecto Basico.
