The Architecture Factory

The project explores the potential impact of the creation of space based on the penetration of light into a volume. Natural light offers biophilic benefits ranging from increased productivity to improved mental health; fueling workers with the energy to attack ambitious projects. The office and public spaces receive a range of diffused and direct light, based on the roofing strategy. The design aims to captivate the mind in producing stimulating, provocative projects. The colors and materials used to absorb and reflect the natural daylighting, intensifying the feeling of pleasure. Within the constraints of a tight site, a series of spaces are provided for both the architectural tenant and the public. The combination of natural lighting solutions provides the most pleasurable spatial conditions in regards to the program: the penetration of light through sawtooth roofs, the highlighting public space through deliberate spotlights, and the democratization of lower levels through the cascading of light through cut-outs in the floor plates. The dramatic lighting of 'The Architecture Factory' fuels creativity, restores concentration, and facilitates new connections in this space of collaboration.
