The Architectural Ceramics Assemblies Workshop, ACAW, provides an opportunity to explore the material possibilities of terra cotta in the development of innovative cladding systems. I was able to assist the Dynamic Terracotta team, as it sought a means to manipulate the preparation and incorporation of extrusions into dynamic architectural assemblies. Post-extrusion bending tested the limits of terracotta, and the final design achieved a wave-like form along the length of the assembly through strategic bending along the two axes of motion - while amplifying plastic expressiveness, managing wind-load, and augmenting strengths.
