If Gentrification was to be purposely taken to its extreme form, what kind of architecture would it create? Sited in the heart of Dumbo, Brooklyn, this hypothetical project serves as a critique on the rapid development of a rich neighborhood once dominated by industrial wastelands.
Following the “recipe” curated by the man who launched the growth of Dumbo, Real Estate Developer David Walentas, the machine
changes the life of the wealthy residents, making them “more suitable” to live in the hippest neighborhood in New York. Artists also become the “best version of themselves” and will end up producing amazing art. With this as promotion, the machine criticizes the stereotype of the “depressed artist”, the wealthy figure, the artificial efforts of David Wallentas and his ‘recipe for success”
The machine is a hypothetical, theoretical project that criticizes the artificial process of gentrification in the neighborhood of DUMBO, Brooklyn.
