This project was developed as part of the work for Comprehensive Studio and is therefore focused on program intricacy, structural and building systems development.
Located in the old quarries of Jamesville New York, “Filming e-waste” is a public electronics recycling facility which aims to revitalize the abandoned quarries and the surrounding wastelands by creating a hub for multi-media production. Including both a multi-story tower and a public promenade, spaces both for e-waste refurbishing and audiovisual studios adjacent to each other establish a series of satirical relationships in which discarded e-waste becomes the backdrop for the creation of new electronic media.
Using the form and materiality of the existing silos as precedent, the four leaning towers serve as the center-point for a new landscape of public activity, that yet maintains and exposes the remarkable character of the original site.
