In the Self Constructed City , the housing module seeks a new form of home. It seeks to respect the environment and at the same time molds itself to the space in which it operates.
Its rational and simple but at the same time, the striking shape immediately conveys an idea of tranquillity, like a simple mountain refuge. Its rectilinear and smooth shapes are marked by the vertical and horizontal trajectories of the facades, carefully thought out according to a metric in order to guarantee the necessary harmony for the house. Regardless of the shape given to the facades it will always convey the harmony of the whole. This harmony is also transmitted at night, as the light transmitted from the interior through the openings of the façade, help crease the shapes of the house.
The module is characterized by two different structures, one marked by two horizontal lines and the other by vertical lines. The first belongs to the floor and roof slab accentuated by steel pillars, which "detach" the house from the land, guaranteeing the continuity of the topography. The second to the outer walls of the house, made up of prefabricated blocks that are joined together by hinges that make the facades moldable, creating a kind of continuous screen. The focal point of the entire project is the union between the two structures, both the floor and roof slabs have to guarantee perfect leveling and smoothness, in order to facilitate the displacement of the facade blocks.
The house can be completely shaped according to the environment in which it is inserted and according to the needs of the user, including both the kitchen area and the sanitary installation could be arranged in any area, as all the plumbing is laid under the floor slab . The typologies described above are just examples of the various possibilities. The facade blocks would be built with an adobe brick base, air gap and insulation and could have several finishes, the interior walls would be in plasterboard, the hinges of the facade blocks and a structure that supports the slabs would be in steel , the gaps and joints between the blocks would be in wood-aluminum profiles, with double glazing.
It is very common to people change the arrangement of furniture in their homes. This project intends to transmit this mobility to the house itself, molding it according to the needs of each family, in each phase of their life.
