The Artist Caddy project was commissioned by fellow artist M.D. Campbell. He provided a design for storing art supplies on his desk and requested that I build it. Campbell granted me creative freedom regarding the patina treatment for the copper and the choice of wood.
The copper tubes underwent a unique patination process using acid and peroxide, resulting in distinctive patterns and colors. These tubes were then carefully inset into figured walnut, contrasting beautifully with an accent padauk wood.
I custom-fabricated a D-ring set into a padauk clip capped with walnut for the handle. The piece is mounted on a lazy Susan, seamlessly integrated into the bottom.
