The Anchorage

Blocks from historic downtown Fairfield, The Anchorage is a four story, 90 residential unit multi-family. The architecture is derived from traditional colonial forms but with a simplified or abstracted interpretation of that style.

The front of the building dominates the view from the street and shields most of the linear mass behind it. The intent was to make the street frontage as residential in scale and character as possible. To make the building look authentic to the neighborhood, the concentration was on traditional window and door surrounds, eave details and exposure on the clapboard siding. Introducing a porch and centered front door adds to the feeling that this is more like a home than a full amenity multi-family building.

The 9,000 SF amenity interior has traditional New England design elements, materials and colors, creating warm and inviting common areas.  Detailed millwork, Wide plank wood floors, and large windows allowing natural light as well as access to the outdoor courtyard. Crisp modern furniture gives the space a clean open vibe.
