Platform SoNo Station

The Chestnut Street project includes a total of 280 new residential units, of which 10% will be affordable. 180 of these units will wrap around and be above a new 450 car parking structure. These units will orient to a 17,000 SF landscaped plaza that will provide a pool, outdoor grilling and picnic areas, as well as a variety of other recreational amenities for the residents. Approximately 10,000 SF of interior space will additionally be programed to provide amenities that will mark this as a first-class project. 100 units will be in a new building to be located at the entry to the train station at the corner of Chestnut and Monroe.

The project will transform the area on the east side of the tracks, which is an important place of arrival into the city, and an important transportation center for the region. This project will enable the train station to be at the heart of new Transit Oriented Development. For transit oriented development to thrive, the streets must be walkable, pedestrian friendly, and safe. This project will dramatically improve Chestnut Street, and the connectivity of the train station to the community it serves. The neighborhood currently has symptoms of urban blight, including dilapidated buildings and a history of violent crime, which have depressed new investment in
the neighborhood. The investment of care and dollars that this project represents will address those symptoms, and enable much stronger connections between the train station and the surrounding neighborhoods.
