UCONN Meag School of Education & Center for Undergraduate Education

Located directly on the center quad, these symmetrical buildings create a new architectural image for the campus. The creation of interior and exterior common areas nurtures the academic life where faculty, students and staff can interact.

The facades of both the Neag School of Education and the Center for Undergraduate Education are part of a large-scale work of sculptural reliefs that span about 500 feet. This piece was conceived by architect Barry Svigals and graphic designer Randall Hoyt in close collaboration with a team of UConn faculty and students.

The panels are comprised of figures interwoven with the 12 letters found in the University’s name, forming inspirational words and phrases chosen by the inhabitants of the buildings stretching across the two facades. This "walking wall" mirrors the vitality of the academic community.
