Gerald D. Hines Student Urban Design Competition

Downtown Minneapolis has a beautiful mixture of contemporary and historic districts but lacks the urban fabric to from connections between them.  The establishment of the Portland Corridor, between Washington Avenue South and 9th Street South, will create the necessary link that downtown and its surrounding districts have been missing.  This intricate urban fabric will be created through four specific development goals: reintegrating nature into the streetscape, creating and sustaining a sense of place, fostering an entrepreneurial ecosystem, and promoting transit-oriented development along the Portland Corridor.
