A retreat is designed for a couple looking to escape city dwelling. The home sits on a semi-open medow, which allows for extended views and interaction toward the open landscape. The house interacts with the meadow as a boat does with the open water and its programatic components are arranged in two different volumes connected by an open courtyard. The more public activities are arranged in the front volume, with expansive views toward the landscape and surrounding vegetation; the private aspects take place in the back volume, whose scale adjusts to the more dense surrounding landscape and programmatic activities.
