Hamala Hills Villa

“A house built as a domestic landscape where natural and artificial blend together to create extraordinary scenarios.”

The Hamala Hills project, spanning 2,500 sqm in Manama, Bahrain, is conceived as a harmonious fusion of natural and artificial elements, creating extraordinary settings within a domestic landscape.

The design revolves around a three-level built box that accommodates various functions and activities. The transformation of the existing building's interior organization, including interior design, furnishing, and garden design, forms the foundation of the project. The outdoor space and pool serve as the focal point, with all the main areas of the house facing this central feature.

The first and lower levels are dedicated to the family's daily activities, while the ground floor caters to guests, featuring formal indoor and outdoor kitchen areas, dining rooms, lounges, meeting spaces, and relaxation areas.

At the heart of the building, a submerged ray of light excavates a mineral crater—a constructed cenote—where nature triumphs over construction. Water plays a central role in the design, expanding views and bringing nature to the forefront. The architecture transforms the house into an underwater-inspired world, enveloping the rooms in tranquility and serenity. Wood, stone, concrete, and grass seamlessly blend together, creating a captivating color palette that contributes to the unique domestic landscape of the villa.
